Argon welding is a hybrid of electric and gas welding. When working, a welding specialist uses an electric arc and filler wire. The source of heat is the arc. It melts the edges of the workpieces. Many non-ferrous metals that interact with atmospheric oxygen are oxidized.

The oxide film on their surface does not allow a seam to form with ferrous metal workpieces.
